| Dear Applicant:
1st Highway to success street. Your occupation is listed on the Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) As the occupation features on the MLTSSL as an occupation in demand in Australia, it is possible to apply for any of the visas in the General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program. Visas in this category include the Skilled Independent 189, the Skilled Nominated 190, the Skilled Regional Nominated 489 or the Skilled Regional Sponsored 489 visas. Minimum Requirements If the above ANZSCO code 25XX-11 for “Your Occupation” is your current occupation then you have a very good chance of qualifying for a skilled visa. SUBCLASS 189: First option that one may consider is skilled independent subclass 189 as is a permanent type and you seem to have the required experience to apply for one. In order to apply for this type of visa the candidate needs to be invited to apply and be ready to do it within 60 days of the invitation. It is a requirement to send an Expression of Interest or “EOI” to be invited. Your qualifications need to be assessed by the relevant assessment body and suitable for the nominated skilled occupation, in your case: OCANZ. The applicant must have competent English which is equivalent to an Ielts of 6 on each of the four components of the English test. (Minimum requirement) This is a point test visa and the required pass mark for the score is 60 points. It is highly advisable that you can reach a higher pass mark score in order to be invited to apply as they choose from the candidates according to their achieved scores. Your score: Age: Under no less than 33 and under 40: (25) English Language qualification: (Proficient): (10) Overseas employment experience: 96 months in the last 10 years (8 years): (15) Education Qualification (10) (Qualification recognised by assessing authority as suitable for the occupation) Total: (60) While you reach the required points to be invited in reality you need to obtain a score of minimum 70 points to be invited which will require a Superior English score of 8 points on each module of the test. Alternatives: Other alternatives are: a 190 Skilled nominated visa with will give you an additional 5 points, or, the 489 visa which give you additional 10 points. SUBCLASS 190: The 190 is a permanent visa which requires competent English and also requires an EOI and invitation. The occupation has also to be assessed by the relevant assessing authority as suitable for the nominated skilled occupation and the score is not less than 60 points. It requires a nomination by a State or Territory which has not been withdrawn at the time of invitation. Invitations are not guaranteed and they will select the highest ranked candidates for the NSW nomination. SUBCLASS 489: I’m happy to inform you that you may be eligible to apply for a 489 visa and I consider this to be the best possible option as it gives you the highest probability of success. The 489 visa is a provisional visa that leads to permanent residency. This visa requires the applicant to be invited to apply therefore an EOI must be done previous to invitation. The relevant assessing authorities have assessed the qualifications as suitable for the nominated skilled occupation. Competent English level is required. (Ielts 6 on each module). Applicant must reach the minimum score for the subdivision. (60 points). This subclass awards extra 10 points for the candidate. The State or Territory has not withdrawn the nomination. Please refer to the following web page for further information: How to apply
There is a processing fee charged for the nomination of the different regions as advised on their website. I consider this subclass of visa to be the best option for your present circumstances and believe that it is a good opportunity as the State of NSW is currently offering Sponsorship for Optometrists. I consider appropriate to have your skills assessment done promptly and process your 489 application after a successful nomination.
